If the other party is at fault, you could be entitled a rental car that may be covered by the other party’s insurance. Now, rental car coverage is not required coverage in Florida, only liability coverage and PIP coverage is required. So, as we stated above, it is best to cover yourself and not gamble with another party having rental car coverage on their insurance policy. Out Of Pocket Transportation
If neither you nor the other party has rental car coverage, you might be responsible for finding transportation and obtaining a rental car at your cost. Now remember, you can still use Lyft, Uber, a Taxi, or ask a friend for a ride while waiting for your car to be fixed or to be evaluated by an adjuster. Be sure to keep track of those out of pocket expenses and provide those to your attorney.
